Haad Jalai Jyoon Lakadi, Kes Jalai Jyoon Ghaas.
Sab Tan Jalata Dekhi Kari, Bhaya Kabir Udaas.
Meaning : This mortal human body burns like wood in the end and the hair burns like grass. Seeing the entire body burning like this, Kabir's heart fills with sadness at this end.
Kabir Das ji's sadness is not the sentimentality of an ordinary person, but the compassion of an awakened soul. He knew the truth that this body is mortal, but people still consider it to be everything.
After death, this body remains nothing - neither beauty, nor fragrance, nor identity. Yet while we are alive, we keep working for this body, cheat, cause pain to others.
Through this couplet, Kabirdas ji wants to give us a very big lesson -
Wake up! As long as this body is there, do something that will benefit the soul.
Today, when we are entangled in show-off, social media, external beauty and material happiness, then this couplet shows us the mirror.
The body that we love so much today, will be burnt on the pyre tomorrow.
So why not turn towards the soul right now? Why not fill your life with some peace, love and devotion?
