Maha Kumbh Mela is a festival in Hinduism. The fair is held here in four major Hindu pilgrimage and religious places of India. It is celebrated in a cycle of about 12 years at four river-shore pilgrimage sites. Prayagraj (the confluence of the Ganges-Yamuna Saraswati rivers), Haridwar (Ganga), Nashik (Godavari), and Ujjain (Shipra). During Kumbh Mela, any one of these major pilgrimage sites such as this time it is being held in Haridhar. This fair is marked by a ritual dip in the waters of the river, but it is also a celebration of many fairs, education, religious discourses by saints, collective food of monks and community commerce with the poor and entertainment spectacle. The seekers believe that bathing in these rivers (atonement, penance) is a means for past mistakes, and it destroys their sins.
The bathing dates are tentative, and subject to change as per the final announcement of the competent authority of the Kumbh Mela Haridwar 2021.
