Vandē hansītalāndēvīṁ rasabhasthānadigambram |
Mārjanikalāśōpētāṁ surapalaṅkr̥tamastakam ||
Meaning : I worship Goddess Shitala, seated on the womb, Digambara, holding a broom and pot in her hands, with her head decorated with soup.
This worship mantra of Sheetala Mata makes it clear that she is the presiding goddess of cleanliness. Having a broom in hand means that we should be conscious about cleanliness. What we mean by Kalash is that maintaining cleanliness leads to health and prosperity.
