Kalashtami Vrat is extremely important for the devotees of Lord Bhairava. This fast is observed on the Ashtami Tithi of Krishna Paksha every month. On this day, Lord Bhairava is worshiped and revered. Kalashtami is also known as Kaala Ashtami. In particular, Kalbhairav Jayanti, also known as Bhairav Ashtami, is the most important day of Kalashtami. It is believed that Lord Shiva incarnated as Bhairava on this day.
Kalashtami Vrat is mainly observed on the day when Ashtami Tithi falls at night time. This fast can also be observed on Saptami Tithi if according to religious scriptures, Ashtami Tithi ends at night. On the day of the fast, devotees observe fast for the whole day and worship Lord Bhairava at night time.
