Sri Ashtamsa Vardha Anjaneyar Temple is a Hindu temple. This temple is completely dedicated to Lord Hanuman ji. Sri Ashtamsa Vardha Anjaneyar is located at Pilamed, Coimbatore in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. It is believed that Sri Ashtamsa Vardha Anjaneyar is the oldest temple in the state of Tamil Nadu.
The idol of Hanuman in Sri Ashtamsa Vardha Anjaneyar Temple is made of Shaligram stone. This is the only statue of Hanuman ji in India which is made of Shaligram stone. Shaligram is considered to be the symbol of Lord Vishnu. Lord Hanuman has taken different incarnations at different times, in Kalyug Hanuman ji is in the form of Anjaneya. In this temple Shri Anjaneya blesses the devotees with his eight powers.
Shri Anjaneya Bhagwan can be visited on any day and Hanuman ji bestows his blessings on the devotees with various ornaments. Saturday and Tuesday are considered special days. The months of September and October which are the months of Tamil Puratatsi and the darshan of Hanuman ji on the day of Hanuman Jayanti are considered special darshan.
Raja Maruthi Alankaram, Vennai Alankaram and Vadamalai Prasad are regular services here on Saturdays. Vadai Malai, Swayam Roopam, Chenduram, Swarnamayam and Muthangi Sevai are offered to the Lord on Saturdays in the Tamil month of Purattasi.
Lord Hanuman is decked up in different alankaram (form) every day, which makes this temple very unusual. Devotees are amazed to see Lord Hanuman in various ornaments.
