Ashtamsa Varadha Anjaneyar Temple - Tamil Nadu

Sri Ashtamsa Vardha Anjaneyar Temple is a Hindu temple. This temple is completely dedicated to Lord Hanuman ji. Sri Ashtamsa Vardha Anjaneyar is located at Pilamed, Coimbatore in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. It is believed that Sri Ashtamsa Vardha Anjaneyar is the oldest temple in the state of Tamil Nadu.

The idol of Hanuman in Sri Ashtamsa Vardha Anjaneyar Temple is made of Shaligram stone. This is the only statue of Hanuman ji in India which is made of Shaligram stone. Shaligram is considered to be the symbol of Lord Vishnu. Lord Hanuman has taken different incarnations at different times, in Kalyug Hanuman ji is in the form of Anjaneya. In this temple Shri Anjaneya blesses the devotees with his eight powers.

• The specialty of Shri Anjaneya Bhagwan Statue is that Lord Anjaneya's right hand with Abhaya Mudra assures all welfare and protection to the devotees and Goddess Lakshmi graces the devotees with the right palm of Hanuman.
• Lord Hanuman holds his mace which destroys internal enemies like ego, anger and greed and Anjaneya protects his devotees from enemies and keeps the devotees fearless.
• Shri Anjaneya's face is towards west which ensures health. During the Ramayana period, Lord Rama's brother Lakshmana fainted during the war. Hanuman ji had brought Sanjeevani mountain with him. A piece of the hill fell in the Western Ghats, so his facing west assures the devotee complete recovery from any ailment.
• Sri Anjaneya's feet face south, which is the direction of Yama, the god of death. Worshiping the feet frees the devotee from the fear of death and assures longevity.
• His long tail makes Sri Anjaneya beautiful. His tail is towards the north which is the direction of Kuber, the god of wealth. One becomes prosperous in life by worshiping Shri Anjaneya.
• The eyes of Sri Anjaneya represent the Sun and the Moon. It is believed that they are the Sun during the day and the Moon after sunset.

Best day to visit Shri Anjaneya Temple

Shri Anjaneya Bhagwan can be visited on any day and Hanuman ji bestows his blessings on the devotees with various ornaments. Saturday and Tuesday are considered special days. The months of September and October which are the months of Tamil Puratatsi and the darshan of Hanuman ji on the day of Hanuman Jayanti are considered special darshan.

Shri Anjaneya's Prasad

Raja Maruthi Alankaram, Vennai Alankaram and Vadamalai Prasad are regular services here on Saturdays. Vadai Malai, Swayam Roopam, Chenduram, Swarnamayam and Muthangi Sevai are offered to the Lord on Saturdays in the Tamil month of Purattasi.

Lord Hanuman is decked up in different alankaram (form) every day, which makes this temple very unusual. Devotees are amazed to see Lord Hanuman in various ornaments.
