The Ekadashi which falls in the Shukla Paksha of Bhadrapada month is called Parivartini Ekadashi. It is believed that by observing the fast of Parivartini Ekadashi, one gets the virtue equal to the Ashwamedha Yagya. This Ekadashi is also called Jayanti Ekadashi, Padma Ekadashi and Vamana Ekadashi. On this day there is a law to worship Vamana, an incarnation of Lord Vishnu. On the day of Ekadashi, Lord Shri Hari is worshiped according to the law. Those who fast and worship Parivartini Ekadashi get the blessings of Lord Vishnu.
On observing the fast of Parivartini Ekadashi, the result is equal to that of Vajpeya Yagya. Donations and meditation should be done on this day. By observing the Ekadashi fast, his sins are destroyed and divine results are obtained. Therefore, one who desires salvation must observe this fast.
Both men and women should observe this fast. One should fast for the whole day. The idols of Lord Narayana and Maa Lakshmi should be installed in the evening. Worship and aarti should be done with yellow flowers, incense and lamp. Sweets made from pure country should be offered and Vishnu Sahasranama should be recited.
Those who worship the Lord Kamalnayan with a lotus, they definitely go near the Lord. One who fasted and worshiped on Bhadrapada Shukla Ekadashi, he worshiped the three worlds including Brahma, Vishnu. Therefore, one must observe the fast of Harivasar ie Ekadashi. On this day God takes his turn, hence it is also called Parivartini Ekadashi.
