Dashami Tithi holds special religious and cultural significance in Hinduism. It falls on the tenth day of Shukla and Krishna Paksha of every month and is considered auspicious. Many festivals are celebrated on Dashami Tithi, the most prominent of which are Vijayadashami and Ganga Dussehra.
Dashami Tithi is considered a symbol of religion, spirituality and victory. The work done on this date is especially successful and its effect brings positivity in life. On the day of Vijayadashami (Dussehra), Lord Rama killed Ravana and gave the message of victory of Dharma over Adharma. Similarly, on the day of Ganga Dussehra, the river Ganga descended on earth, which makes this date even more sacred.
According to the story associated with Vijayadashami, in Treta Yuga, Lord Rama worshiped Goddess Durga for 9 days and conquered Ravana on the tenth day. This day is celebrated as a symbol of victory of truth over untruth and religion over unreligion.
According to the legend of Ganga Dussehra, pleased with the hard penance of Bhagirath, Maa Ganga descended on earth and destroyed all sins with her holy water.
Dashami Tithi teaches us that any crisis or difficulty can be overcome by following the path of truth and religion. This date brings strength, peace and success in a person's life.
On this holy day, let us renounce the evils within us and pledge to follow the path of truth, religion and charity. May we be victorious in every task on Dashami Tithi, this is our best wishes.
According to the Hindu calendar, the tenth day is called Dashami. Dashami falls in both Shukla Paksha and Krishna Paksha. Dashami comes twice a month. Dashami has its own special significance in Hinduism. The famous festivals falling on Dashami Tithi are Vijay Dashami and Ganga Dussehra. Yamraj is worshiped on the day of Dashami. Worshiping Yamraj gives freedom from the fear of death.
