Shiva Tandava Stotram is called Sivatandavastotram in Sanskrit language. This stotra was composed by Ravana, the most loved devotee of Lord Shiva. Ravana wanted to take Lord Shiva with him to Lanka, but Lord Shiva loved Kailash more. Ravana wanted to take Lord Shiva with him along with Kailash. Lord Shiva did not like this ego of Ravana. Then Lord Shiva bit his toe, due to which Ravana's hand was buried under Mount Kailash. Then Ravana composed Shivtandavastotram to please Lord Shiva.
