In Chaitra Shukla Paksha, there is an Ekadashi named 'Kamada'. "Kamada Ekadashi" which is also called Falda Ekadashi has been called the best fast of Shri Vishnu. By virtue of this fast, the person gets freedom from sin. This Ekadashi is said to be the one to relieve the sufferings and to give fruitful desires and fulfilling desires. The story of this Ekadashi was narrated by Shri Krishna to Pandu's son Dharmaraja Yudhishthira. Before this, King Dilip was narrated by Vashistha Muni.
Dharmaraja Yudhishthira started saying, "O God! I greet you very much. Now please tell the greatness of Chaitra Shukla Ekadashi. Shri Krishna started saying that, O Dharmaraja! At one time, King Dilip asked Guru Vashistha and I tell you all the solutions that he did.
In ancient times there was a city called Bhogipur. A king named Pundarik used to rule there with many opulence. Many nymphs, eunuchs and Gandharvas used to live in Bhogipur city. In one place, two women and men named Lalita and Lalit lived in a very luxurious house. Both of them had great affection, even when separated they both got distraught.
Lalit was also singing along with other Gandharvas in Pundarik's meeting. While singing, he got the attention of his beloved Lalita and due to his dissolution of voice, the nature of the song deteriorated. Knowing the spirit of Lalit's mind, a serpent named Karkot told the king the reason for dissolution of the post. Then Pundarik said angrily that you are remembering your woman singing in front of me. Therefore, you become a demon eating raw meat and humans, and enjoy the fruits of your actions.
Lalit turned into a giant monster at that very moment, due to the curse of Pundarik. His face was very fierce, the eyes illuminated like the sun and moon and fire started coming out of his mouth. His nose became as big as a mountain, and his neck started to look like a mountain. The hair of the head looked like trees standing on the mountains and the arms became very long. In total, his body expanded into eight plan. In this way, he became a demon and suffered many kinds of miseries.
When her beloved, Lalitha came to know about this account, she felt very sorry and started thinking diligently for her husband's salvation. The demon lived in dense forests, suffering many kinds of grief. His woman followed him and kept mourning. Once Lalitha roamed behind her husband and reached the Vindhyachal mountain, where Shringi was the ashram of the sage. Lalita soon went to the ashram of Shringi Rishi and went there and started praying with graciousness.
Seeing him, Shringi Rishi said that he will subside! Who are you and what have you come here for? Lalitha said that I am My name is Lalitha. My husband has become a giant monster due to the curse of King Pundarik. I feel very sad about it. Provide a solution for his salvation. Shringi Rishi said, O Gandharva Kanya! Now Chaitra Shukla Ekadashi is coming, whose name is Kamada Ekadashi. By observing this, all human actions are proved. If you do the fast of Kamada Ekadashi and give the fruits of its virtue to your husband, then he will soon be freed from the demon's vagina and the curse of the king will also be calmed down.
On hearing such word of Muni, Lalita fasted on coming to Chaitra Shukla Ekadashi and started praying to God in this way giving her husband the fruits of her fast in front of Brahmins on Dwadashi - O Lord! This fast that I have done, the fruit of it should be received by my husband, so that the monster is freed from the vagina.
As soon as giving the fruit of Ekadashi, her husband got rid of the demon's vagina and regained his old form. Then, with many beautiful robes and jewelery, he started to Vihar with Lalita. After that, both of them boarded the plane and went to Swargalok.
Vashistha Muni started saying that, O Rajan! By observing this fast, all sins are destroyed and the vagina of demons etc. is also left. There is no other fast in the world equal to this. By reading or listening to its story, one gets the fruits of Vajpayee Yagya.
