Religious significance of Trayodashi Tithi

Method of Trayodashi Vrat
- Morning bath and resolution: Get up early in the morning on this day, take a bath and take a resolution for the fast.
- Worship of Lord Shiva: Offer Gangajal, milk, curd, Belpatra, and Dhatura on the Shivling.
- Pradosh Kaal Puja: Perform special worship of Lord Shiva at the time of sunset. This time is called Pradosh Kaal.
- Mantra Chant: Chant "Om Namah Shivaya" or Mahamrityunjaya Mantra.
- Donation and Food: After the completion of the fast, feed Brahmins and the poor and give donations.

Mythological Story
According to a legend, Lord Shiva drank poison during the Samudra Manthan on Trayodashi Tithi, due to which he was called "Neelkanth". By pleasing Lord Shiva on this day, all the troubles and defects of life are eliminated.
