Complete Mantra for Worship of Lord Shiva - Samba Sada Shiva Om

This mantra praises Lord Shiva who is in the form of Sadashiva and is with Goddess Parvati. This mantra glorifies the auspiciousness, benevolent power and infinite energy of creation of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati.

This mantra is considered to be the complete mantra for worshipping Lord Shiva. Shri Premanand Maharaj Ji says that to worship Mahadev, one should chant the mantra of 'Samba Sadashiva'.

To chant this mantra, one should use a rosary of sandalwood.

Meaning and significance of sāṃba Sadashiva Om Mantra:

sāṃba sadāshiva oṃ shiva oṃ

sāṃba:

'sāṃba' means 'sah amba' i.e. 'with mother'.

Here 'amba' refers to Goddess Parvati. Hence, 'sāṃba' means Lord Shiva who is with Goddess Parvati.

Sadashiva:

'Sadashiva' means 'always Shiva', i.e. 'always benevolent'.

'Sada' means always or continuously and 'Shiva' means auspicious or benevolent.

Sadashiva is a form of Lord Shiva who is constantly auspicious and benevolent.

oṃ:

'Om' is called the Pranava Mantra or Brahmanad.

It is the sound form of the beginning of creation and is the root of all mantras.

It is a symbol of the divine and represents the energy of the entire universe.
