Bhagavad Gita Chapter 6, Verse 22

This verse is from the Bhagavad Gita, Chapter 6, Verse 22. It is written in Sanskrit and translates to English as follows:

yaṁ labdhvā chāparaṁ lābhaṁ manyate nādhikaṁ tataḥ
yasmin sthito na duḥkhena guruṇāpi vichālyate || 22 ||

English translation:

“Lord Krishna says in this verse that when a sadhak attains that supreme state through the practice of yoga, he does not find any other benefit or worldly object superior to it. After reaching that state, no matter how great the suffering, that sadhak remains steadfast and is not perturbed by sufferings.”

In this verse Lord Krishna is discussing the supreme benefit of yoga. The highest state of yoga is where the practitioner attains enlightenment and is not interested in any other worldly gains. That state is so blissful and stable that the practitioner is not affected by any kind of sorrow or worldly suffering. This state is of permanent bliss and mental peace, which can be achieved only through yoga and meditation.

Laabham - benefit (worldly pleasures or possessions)
Manyate - understands, believes

Yasminsthita - in which one remains steadfast (in the state of yoga or enlightenment)

Dukhena - from suffering
Guruna - great or big (here, from any great suffering or sorrow)
Api - also
Vichalyate - is not perturbed
